While serving his recent mission in Mexico City, the author worked continually with music, directing both member and missionary choirs and training many missionaries as music conductors. He observed hundreds of situations where English-speaking missionaries, recalling the messages and words of hymns they remembered in Enlish, struggled to identify the title of the Spanish translation of the hymn. And the problem existed in reverse: many times they knew the Spanish title but couldn’t recall the English name of the hymn.
Two indexes are provided. The first index is alphabetized by title in English, with the Spanish hymn title for each hymn beneath it. The second index is alphabetized by title in Spanish, with the English hymn title listed beneath it. Made to be glued into either a Spanish or an English hymnbook, these indexes indicate the page numbers in both hymn books for every title listed in either language. They also indicate the hymns in both languages which are not translated into the other language. This is a useful tool that bilingual LDS musicians will use for many years.
